Laboratory School

The University of Hawaii is proposing to redevelop the campus block currently home to the College of Education and University Laboratory School (ULS).

The university has not shared its plan for ULS, leaving the school at risk of closing.

Show your support and demand that ULS is saved by signing the petition.

“The vision is to redevelop the entire block, including the future use of the Laboratory School would not be on that site.”
– Kalbert Young, University of Hawaii Chief Financial Affairs Officer

Why is this
Important

As the state’s leading institution for higher education, UH should continue to prioritize educational partnerships and opportunities. ULS has a long, successful history as a K-12 public charter school, consistently ranking among the state’s top schools. It also serves as a critical partner to the College of Education for curriculum research and teacher training.

ULS has been my home for 9 years now. And we’re all so close and UH is just going to tear it down? You’re just going to take away so many kids’ education? That’s absurd. As a college, shouldn’t education always be a priority?

We need to safeguard Lab School from destruction by the CampusTown development. Our school is the best in State! It should be expanded, not destroyed!

My child has attended ULS since Kindergarten, and the thought of uprooting her right before she graduates high school is unfathomable. We need more quality schools like ULS, not shopping centers.
